Verewild
Privacy
Verewild is one person. Nothing here runs an ad network, sells data, or builds profiles of the people who use it. This page covers the studio and this website; each product has its own page for what it specifically collects, because the honest answer differs between a single-player game and a web app.

Per-product privacy information
- SIGABRT — the game on Steam. Saves locally; Steam records playtime, achievements and a small set of gameplay statistics.
- Daily Trivia Learning and Career Finder Helper — these are separate web apps on their own domains, and the privacy information that applies to them is published on those sites. This page does not speak for them.
Who is responsible
Verewild is an independent, one-person studio and is the data controller for the processing described here and on the per-product pages. Contact: support@verewild.com.
Where a product is distributed through a platform — Steam, in SIGABRT's case — that platform is a separate controller for the data it collects for its own purposes, under its own policy. Verewild does not control that processing and cannot delete data held by it.
What this website does
Very little, and it is worth being specific rather than vague:
- No analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels, no cookies. There is nothing here counting visitors or following them elsewhere.
- One piece of local storage holds your light/dark theme choice so the site does not flash the wrong colours on the next page. It never leaves your browser, is not a cookie, and identifies nobody. Clearing site data removes it.
- Cloudflare serves and protects this site. Like any web host it processes connection data — including IP addresses — to deliver pages and block abuse. That is the legitimate interest of keeping a website up, and Cloudflare acts as a processor for it.
There is no account system, no newsletter, no comment box, and no contact form. The only way to send anything is to email the address above, at which point you have chosen to.
Legal basis
Where the UK/EU GDPR applies, the bases relied on are:
- Legitimate interests — serving this site securely, and understanding in aggregate how a game is played so it can be improved. The interest is balanced against the fact that the data is minimal, never sold, and never used to target anyone.
- Performance of a service you asked for — features you switch on yourself, such as Steam Cloud saves.
You can object to processing based on legitimate interests. See Your rights.
How long anything is kept
Verewild keeps no database of users. There is no server storing player records, no mailing list, and no CRM.
- Files a game writes on your own computer stay until you delete them.
- Data held by a platform — Steam account data, cloud saves, achievements, statistics — is retained under that platform's policy and can be removed through it.
- Email you send is kept only as long as needed to deal with what you wrote about.
Who data is shared with, and where it goes
Nothing is sold, rented, or traded. Data reaches only the companies needed to run things: Cloudflare for this website, and Valve for anything distributed through Steam.
Both are United States companies, so data associated with them is processed in the US. If you are in the UK or EEA, that is an international transfer, made under those companies' own transfer safeguards.
Your rights
Depending on where you live — including the UK, the EEA, and California — you may have the right to access a copy of your personal data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, and receive it in a portable form. Exercising these rights costs nothing and will not get you treated differently.
In practice, most data described here is held by a platform rather than by Verewild, so the fastest route is usually that platform's own tools — for Steam, Steam Support, which can act directly on account data, cloud saves, achievements and statistics. For anything held by Verewild, or if you are unsure who to ask, write to support@verewild.com and a person — the one who made the thing — will answer.
You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority. In the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office; in the EEA it is the supervisory authority for your country. You are welcome to raise it here first, but you are not required to.
Children
Verewild's products are not directed to children, and Verewild does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13.
"Not directed to children" is a narrower statement than "children cannot use it", so it is worth saying what it means. Regulators look at how a thing presents itself and who it appeals to — its subject matter, its art and audio, whether it uses cartoon characters or child-oriented rewards, and whether it is advertised to children. SIGABRT is a game about program failure, memory corruption, and a dead author; it has no child-oriented content and is advertised to nobody under 13.
There is also a practical floor. The data described here attaches to a platform account, and Steam's Subscriber Agreement requires account holders to be 13 or older. Where an adult has created an account and given it to a child, the account and the data recorded against it remain the adult's under that agreement.
If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal data to Verewild directly, email the address above and it will be deleted.
Changes
If a product starts collecting something new, the relevant page is updated and the date at its top changes. Material changes are noted on the affected product's page.
